# Conversion Factors

This page contains some useful conversion factors when dealing with Natural Gas and LNG.

It is interesting to compare LNG with oil to get a handle on some basic conversions. A barrel of oil when burnt contains approximately 5.8 x 106 BTU of energy.

NB: The conversion factors have been quoted to a large number of decimal places, as the quantities of gas traded / produced normally runs to millions of tonnes in any calculation.
